Neptune’s Bellows

The name, after the Roman sea god Neptune, was appended by American sealers prior to 1822 because of the strong gusts experienced in narrow channel of Deception Island on the Antarctic peninsula.

Neptune’s Bellows

Built on spec to participate in the Race to Alaska. This a 22.5 foot rowing sailboat designed by Chesapeake Lightcraft, construction method is stitch and glue.

Built with with Okume marine plywood, ecopoxy, glass cloth, and various hardwoods. Little Island Woodworks took on very aspect of this project from start to finish, it performed well in its subsequent 20 day ocean voyage with no structural or functional issues.
